Bob Bowman, a Kansas native, began playing bass at age 12 and studied at North Texas State University. He joined the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra in 1976, winning a Grammy for "Live in Munich." Later, he played with the Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabakin Big Band, contributing to several Grammy-nominated albums.
Bob has toured and recorded with numerous notable artists and has strong ties to Kansas City's jazz scene, where he moved in 1988 and taught at local universities. He now lives in Montana but frequently returns to the Midwest to perform and record.
