The Chocolate Nutcracker

Date: Nov 25 - Nov 26, 2017
This Nutcracker is an urban, multi-cultural twist on the classical ballet that's become a holiday tradition.

The Chocolate Nutcracker is filled with the pageantry of dazzling costumes and uses a variety of exciting dance styles that include: Hip-Hop, Jazz, African, Praise, Contemporary, Stepping, and Ballet.

It tells the story of a little girl named Claire and her chocolate Nutcracker that travels the world in a dream lead by the Dream Princess.

It Takes A Village, Inc., a non-profit after school performing arts youth center, will present this Holiday fundraiser, with a portion of the proceeds to go to scholarships and community programs in the Topeka, KS area.

This is an adaption of the popular classical ballet, The Nutcracker, by E.T.A. Hoffman and music scores by Tchaikovsky. The Chocolate Nutcracker has the jazzy interpretation of this classic score by Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite with other popular musical selections.

The production rehearsals provided training for beginning, intermediate, and advanced multicultural dancers for 10 weeks and the opportunity to experience arts education from professional local artists, behind the scenes production within a professional performance theater, and an interactive performance experience, unparalleled to any other in their community.
